Our pals over at Radio 104.5 Philadelphia have invited us for a night out! We’ll be performing at Xfinity Live on Thursday May 15th at 9:00pm. The best part is that admission is free; just tell them you’re there to see The Paper Jets!
PARKER SOLO ALBUM UNDERWAY
As work on the Brian-produced album I Gave You My All by Jesse Elliot wraps up, recording begins for Timid Roosevelts drummer Jaime Parker’s solo joint. The as-yet-untitled project will feature Parker on vocals and drums, and guitars by Mike Virok and our very own Scottie Maloney. Brian will be producing and playing the bass.
The last time Parker fronted a band was with Piper Maru back in 2007. That group featured would-be Paper Jets Scottie Maloney on drums and Bill Lambusta on guitar. After Piper Maru disbanded following a Northeast tour, Maloney and Lambusta joined The Paper Jets while Parker defected to The Timid Roosevelts. “Things are coming full-circle for us,” says Maloney. “It started with Jaime Parker’s band and we’re glad to help her out with something new.”
Vote for Us!!!!
We’re insanely excited to announce that we have been selected as one of Radio 104.5’s Top 25 local bands, giving us a chance to open their 7th Birthday Show at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Philadelphia on May 11th! If we win, we’d be playing with major acts Foster the People, Cage the Elephant, Bastille, Third Eye Blind, Foals, and Kongos! Needless, to say, it’s kind of a big deal.
However, we can’t get there without your vote! Please click the link to go to the Radio 104.5 contest page and cast your ballot so we can move on to the Final Four. You can vote once per day, and each vote also gets you entered in a drawing for free tickets to the show. So, you know, you win too!
Thanks to all of you in advance, and if we get this amazing opportunity, we will personally hug and kiss each and every one of you.
Announcing: Summer Tour!
It’s confirmed! We are currently scheduling a Summer 2014 tour! Exclamation points!!! We’ll announce dates, cities, and venues soon. All we’ll reveal at the moment is that we’ll start on the East Coast, head West, dio on down South, then circle the wagons back above the Mason Dixon for a triumphant homecoming show. Needless to say, it’s going to be an intense time.
Brian Solo EP Now Available!!!
From Insult to Injury, the pre-Paper Jets EP that Brian recorded (then shelved) back in 2005 is finally seeing proper release nearly 10 years later! The singer explained that the formation of a nascent version of The Paper Jets is ultimately what caused the Insult sessions to cease. “We kind of went all-in with the band,” he said. “Frank had material, I had material,” he continued, “It didn’t always work in the context of the group…so we set all that aside and made the band our primary focus for a long time.”
Since then, Frank has released two albums under his Dust of Days moniker while Brian has remained mostly quiet on the solo front. From Insult to Injury was picked up by Aqualung Records, a label which releases albums for The Sleeping Satellites Initiative, a collective of musicians and songwriters whose record sale profits benefit the Hands Together charity.
So where can we get the new album, JetsAdmin? Well, friends, that’s a great question! You can stream the entire album for free on BandCamp. The album is fully-downloadable on a name-your-price basis. Of course, we kindly ask for a small donation to help a great cause, but no matter what you decide to do, check the album out. Listen, share, enjoy and – most of all – repeat!
