Tim Ryan circa 2008

Back in 2011, we recruited a piano player/vocalist to assist us in the recording of our Strange Friends album. His name was Tim Ryan. So impressed were we with the results that we offered him a permanent spot in the band. But all plans for a Paper Jets featuring Tim Ryan got permanently cancelled when – in the early morning hours of September 29, 2011 – he was killed in a tragic auto accident.

But that’s not where things started.

In 2007, our singer/guitarist Brian Erickson agreed to produce an album for Ryan, an old high school friend, but Tim eventually put the record, “on the table,” and instead moved on.  He hired a new producer and a new studio to work on a collection of new material which would eventually be issued as, Love at First Night (2009, self-released).

But the old record never quite went away. Ryan spoke of revisiting the material a number of times prior to his death and many of the songs never left his set list. And now, in cooperation with his family, Tim Ryan’s lost album entitled Where You Begin, is finally going to see the light of day!

The album will be issued via Secondhand Music with nothing more than, “2016,” bearing any hint of an official release date. Said Brian, “This sits among the most exciting projects with which I’ve ever been involved. We get the chance to work with Tim one more time!”
