Brian, Bill to Record Together Again

Bill Lambusta, who served as our lead guitarist and co-songwriter from 2008 – 2011, will be joining Brian in the studio for the weekend of March 8 – 9, 2014.  The last time the two worked together was in December of 2010.  They recorded seven songs (three by Bill, three by Brian, and one co-write) for a proposed EP with a working title of No Good.  While the sessions were fairly productive, they didn’t yield the results the duo were hoping for.  Two tracks, “Set of Rules,” and “It’s Only Talk,” were rebuilt and used on our album, We Are All Strange Friends.  The rest remain in the vaults.

Now, for the first time in over three years, they will be entering the studio together to collaborate on a few songs for Jeff Fiedler’s Sleeping Satellites Initiative charity project.  So far, they only plan to record two or three songs at most.  Not sure if they’ll include any holdovers from Bill’s time in the band or whether the two plan to start over with fresh material.

We will keep everyone up to date with any further developments including song titles, and release date.

Brian to Release Lost Solo Sessions

Our very own Brian E. – not terribly prolific in the solo career department – has agreed to release a 7-song solo EP entitled, From Insult to InjuryIt is set to be released on Tuesday March 11th at 12:00 noon via BandCamp.

Originally recorded in 2005, around the same time he and Frank were getting started with a nascent version of The Paper Jets, Insult was ultimately shelved in favor of carrying on full-time with the band.

The EP is being issued as part of Jeff Fiedler’s Sleeping Satellites Initiative, conceived and designed to benefit the Haiti relief charity, Hands Together.

“Jeff approached me,” Brian said, “and it seemed like the right time and the right circumstances to let those recordings go.”

But – the singer stresses – this is not the rough, early Paper Jets-type material from 2011’s Sorta Bored.  “Most of the tracks were recorded late at night, completely alone,” he describes.  “And the overall feel of the record definitely reflects that.”  To add to the vintage 2005-ness of the album, Brian even dug up the original cover art.  Yes, his hair used to be that long.

Track Listing:

1.) Through the Window

2.) Cracks

3.) A Little Out of Key

4.) Nothing to Say

5.) Face to Face

6.) Wednesday Night

7.) Porcelain
