Today, we take a look at “Misinformed,” the first of two epic closing tracks on We Are All Strange Friends. Below, you can see what a few fine people in our orbit had to say about the track, and of course, read about what led Brian to write the dang thing in the first place. Don’t forget to pick up our Strange Friends special edition if you like what you hear. It’s got not one but two versions of this track!
“I don’t think your chorus is very good… so I wrote you a new one.”

“It sounds like a nervous breakdown on record.”

“I had the opening bit of chords in my back pocket for a few years but never quite knew what to do with them. Eventually it all came together following – what else – a breakup. There was a lot of arguing; a lot of ‘who said what,’ during that time. I remember playing, ‘Misinformed,’ in whispered privacy for the first time after seeing The National, one of my favorite bands and one whose own music helped free me from a two-year bout with writer’s block. The song would continue to evolve in subtle ways over the years until Tim Ryan’s famous chorus re-write. After that, the song was pretty much locked in.”
