Brian E. Commentar-E: “Adele”

Behold, the first of our main man Brian E.’s track-by-track musings on We Are All Strange Friends! We’re kicking things off with one of the new bonus tracks on the album’s special edition: “Adele”! Read Brian’s recollections, then stream or download the song below!

“Written alongside the rest of the Strange Friends material but inexplicably withheld from the recording sessions, we finally got the chance to put ‘Adele’ down a few months after the album was completed. Frank’s mom and our photographer, Amanda, can be heard shouting along with us during the chorus. The song itself concerns a thwarted affair; an attempted breakup of a relationship. Passages from the actual dialogue made it into the lyric.

“This is one of my favorite unreleased Paper Jets songs. Raw and immediate with just one guitar, bass, and one mic on the drums, we never sounded so unadorned in a recorded setting.”
